Windows 7 gave me a lengthy explanation message beginning with "Not enough server storage is available ...".

The culprit turned out to be Norton Anti Virus, which I just installed on all of our home computers last month.

THANKS for the hint I was cloning a new drive, so I installed Acronis to do that. After I finally found this site, I was able to get things going again.
